Big Bear Camping Trip Day 3

Just as I started to get used to the outdoor camping lifestyle, it was time to pack and go home. It took us a long time to clean up: pack our own stuff, roll the sleeping bags, deflate the air beds, take down and tent and fold it to fit into its bag, dump all the trash and leftovers, and load everything back into our cars. This camping trip is a great experience for me and I hope we will use these camping gears again soon in the near future. =)
Group Picture. Only 1/3 of the people were still on the mountain on the last day. The rest already took off and headed home on the second day. haha =P

Big Bear Camping Trip Day 2

It was hard to fall asleep the first night. I could hear people snoring from different tents around my tent; it was like a surround sound. I was still awake at 4AM and then I probably fell asleep for a little bit. Then I heard the birds chirping and people started to get up early around 5ish, especially the kids.

Despite my first sleepless night, it was still refreshing in the morning on the mountain. Clean air, warm sunshine, and beautiful scenery. We had an outdoor Sunday service after breakfast. We sang worship songs and followed by a short message. It's just so wonderful that we can praise and worship our amazing God anywhere and anytime!
After the Sunday service, we divided into different groups for a variety of activities, such as fishing, hiking, visiting the zoo, kayaking, etc. We decided to go to the zoo with the kids and see some mountain animals. There are so many unique animals that are rarely seen in the regular zoo.
Our next stop was Alpine Slide where you take the lift to the top and then ride the sled down the long cement slide. It was so much fun, something exciting for both adults and kids. =)
It seems like our schedule moves at least two hours early on the mountain. We get up early, eat early, and sleep early. I guess there is more time without TVs and internet access. It was again our dinner time to continue eating our short ribs, salads, and watermelons. I had great appetite and it's me eating again.
We had bonfire that night and had a lot of fun playing group games, roasting sausages and marshmallows, and cooking different types of instant noodles to keep us warm. 10 o'clock, lights out.

Big Bear Camping Trip Day 1

It was an awesome camping trip over the long weekend. The bears didn't come to knock on our tents, but we did hear the coyotes howl. It was good to see so many families having fun explore the nature while spending family time together. Thank God for providing us with wonderful campground, great weather, enough foods, safety and protection, and most of all, His presence. =)

Recap of Day One:

Setting up the tent is a new experience for me. I love my tent, which is very spacious for us to stand and fit in there. We could hang two lights from the top, open our "windows", set up the divider to divide the tent into two "rooms", plus, we brought the two airbeds with us.In the afternoon, we went hiking from our campsite to the Big Bear Discovery Center. It was a pain to walk under the scorching sun and it was farther than I thought, but I still went on with the group and made it..yeh!!! (Nobody wanted to stop and return except me...haha) We had BBQ at the picnic area across our campsite. Our dinner for the first night was BBQ ribs, salad, dinner rolls, and watermelons. We brought 200 pounds of ribs there (I know it sounds scary..200 pounds.) We also grilled some fish which were caught by the kids. Some families went fishing in the afternoon at a place where they guaranteed that the kids would catch fish within five minutes. It cost the parents a lot of money but every kid who went had so much fun. Rebecca, the birthday girl, eating her own fish. She's pretty good at eating fish. Look at the fish bones!
We had two bonfires at night, one for the adults and one for the kids. We played games and roasted the marshmallows. The kids were a little out of control because they were too excited and couldn't' wait for their turn to roast the marshmallows. More Photos (Click the Links):
